Our Lineage

Swadharma Vedic Kriya Yoga is based on our Guru-Parampara (teacher disciple lineage) of Sanatana Dharma or ancient Vedas. Our paramgurus/guru include: Sri Agastyar Siddha, Sri Boganathar Siddha, Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Sri Nagaraj (Mahavatar) Babaji, Sri Lahiri Mahashaya, Sri Sriyukteswar, and Sri Paramhamsa Yogananda.

Come find your true Self and learn and apply the science of “how to live” on planet earth as a universal citizen full of compassion, joy & peace. It is our goal that you understand the deeper meanings of life and learn practices and relationship to the Vedic Sciences. All sessions are hosted by Ashwin Kumar, Doctor of Ayurveda and Vedic Sciences and third generation Swadharma Vedic Kriya Yogi.

What is Initiation and Why?

Life is a ritual and ritual is life. Sacred initiation, or Darshan, in sanskrit is ritual signifying your commitment as a disciple to seek the truth and to pay tribute to the sages and seers, and the spiritual master or Guru, who have brought light and truth to humanity. It is relationship with the Guru and its teachings. The passing of a guru’s spiritual mantle to a disciple designated to carry on the lineage to which that guru belongs is termed guru-parampara. Thereby, the disciple or student becomes the guru.

All member students (monastics as well as lay members) who have taken the sacred initiation in Kriya Yoga are disciples of our most recent guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. He is given respect and devotion as their personal guru, and his lineage of Gurus is likewise venerated by disciples.
